Jennifer Moss was born and raised in Evanston, Illinois and is a graduate of Northwestern University. Upon graduation, she entered the technology field as a software developer and then transitioned to a web developer in the 1900’s.

Her first book, The One-in-a-Million Baby Name Book was published in 2008 by Perigee Press, a division of Penguin, as a companion to her website BabyNames.com. She has since written two more non-fiction books, The Baby Names Workbook, and Yosemite Home Companion.

Jennifer’s first novel, Town Red, is the first in a series of “mysteries with a metaphysical twist.” The series features Chicago homicide detective Ryan Doherty who works with psychic empath Catharine Lulling to solve intriguing cases. Subsequent include Way to Go, Taking the Rap, and Friend of the Family.

Jennifer began teaching fiction writing in 2013, first to teens for a summer program, and then to adults by popular request. She is now bringing that rich curriculum to her YouTube series Secrets of Writing Fiction, along with monthly Zoom Writing Workshops, beginning March of 2025.
